The name of this Blue Honey Tek Recipe is misleading. Your honey will not turn blue. (Though I wish it would!) Honey is a great way to preserve mushrooms and can store for years in your pantry. The downside is that this tek takes time.

The ratio of mushrooms to honey is up to you. It just depends on the potency that you want to make. Are you looking to microdose with some honey in your morning tea? Or are you looking for a larger, trip-inducing dose? If so, I would recommend 1 gram per 1 teaspoon, so that it is easier to calculate and correctly dose out.

Blue Honey Tek Recipe

Calculating Potency

To calculate the potency of your Blue Honey, we need to work backwards. What’s your desired dose PER teaspoon?

  • For Microdosing: 200mg per 1 teaspoon honey (or your preferred microdose mg)
  • For Regular Dose: 1 gram per 1 teaspoon honey

Let’s do the math for a microdoser:

  • Desired dosage: 200mg (0.20g) per 1 teaspoon honey
  • Starting amount of dried mushrooms: 6 grams
  • 6g= 6000mg
  • 6000mg = 30 days of microdosing 200mg each day

You’ll need 30 teaspoons of honey, which is 15 fluid ounces of honey to infuse

For a regular dose:

  • Desired dosage: 1 gram per 1 teaspoon honey
  • Starting amount of dried mushrooms: 30 grams

You’ll need 30 teaspoons of honey, which is 15 fluid ounces of honey to infuse

Ingredients for this Blue Honey Tek Recipe:

  • Dried mushrooms
  • Coffee/spice grinder
    Good quality honey
  • Quart sized mason jar with lid
  • Small saucepan

How to Make this Blue Honey Tek Recipe

  1. Start off by pouring water into a pan that is large enough to hold a jar and some water. The water in the pan should be level with the honey inside the jar. (Keep in mind that the volume inside the jar will increase as you add the mushroom powder.)
  2. Heat the water up until it’s bath-hot and place your jar of honey in the bath to warm up to a thinner consistency. Try to maintain a temperature of less than 115°F.
  3. Next, grind your mushrooms in the coffee grinder. (Alternatively, you can use a chef’s knife to crush and chop up the mushrooms.) Alternate layers of ground mushrooms and honey in the jar. Use a spoon (I prefer a disposable chopstick) to mix the honey and mushrooms thoroughly.
  4. Once you’re done, remove the jar from the pan, cover with lid and place in a dark, cool spot, for at least 3 weeks and up to as long as you want. To dose, just measure out a teaspoon of honey at a time.

The extraction is a slow process, the longer you let sit, the more potent the Blue Honey will be. This is a practice in self control and patience. The Blue Honey will store indefinitely.

Always be mindful of temperature when working with mushrooms. It isn’t as big of an issue as some people believe, but it is important to keep the temperature on the high side of warm.

FAQs

Do I need to strain the mushrooms out?

No, just consume the honey with the ground mushrooms.

Is there a vegan alternative?

Try agave or maple syrup. Same method, however, neither agave or maple syrup have the indefinite shelf life of honey, so I would consume within a few weeks.

Can I microwave or boil the Blue Honey?

Do not microwave or boil the Blue Honey. Excessive heat destroys the psilocybin and psilocin.
